Tesla Model S sells more units than Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7-Series Combined

The popularity of electric cars can be estimated from the sale of Tesla Model S in the US, selling 9156 units of the car in between July-September 2016. Within the same time, Mercedes Benz and BMW sold just 3634 and 3138 units for their flagship sedans S-Class and 7-Series respectively.

Automotive industry of US shows the ongoing trend for having a technologically rich electric car instead of the traditional luxury saloon. The response was strong for their upcoming Tesla Model 3 and the company plans to take over the 5,00,000 unit production target by 2018 instead of 2020.

The production by 2020 could reach as high as 1 million while Tesla has plans to deliver 90,000 units this year. The orders for Tesla Model 3 are nor over 4,00,000. Elon Musk has moved his desk near to the production department in order to ensure no quality issues in the cars.
