Suzuki has officially confirmed the launch date of the rear disc brake variant of the Gixxer. The bike will launch on April 15, the date Suzuki also plans to celebrate as Gixxer day.
First showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the bike remains the same as the standard version except for the addition of the rear disc brake.
The bike is powered by the same 154.9cc engine, producing 14.6 BHP @ 8000 rpm and 14 NM @ 6000 rpm, while the transmission is handled by a 5 speed manual gearbox. Suzuki claims that the Gixxer can hit a top speed of 115 Kmph.
The addition of the rear disc brake is expected to reduce the brake distance, and increase the brake efficiency of bike manifold resulting in better handling and safer rides.
Cosmetically, the bike gets no changes over the standard Gixxer variant.
Pricing information hasn’t been released yet, but it is expected to cost an extra INR 3000 for the addition of the disc brake. Gixxer has faired very well in the market, and now with the upgraded rear disc variant, its going to be very big threat to its competitors such as Yamaha FZ and Honda Cb Hornet.
