MINI has expanded it’s market offering in India with the launch of brand new Mini Clubman Cooper S at a price point of 37.90 lakhs ( ex-showroom Delhi ). Mini Clubman belongs to a sophisticated premium hatchback segment.
This variant is a second generation Clubman which is based on BMW’s UKL2 platform which is also found in the BMW X1 displayed at Auto Expo 2016. It is also the largest size car ever produced by MINI. Mini Clubman has a length of 4260 mm with a width of 1800 mm and a height of 1441 mm. The Cooper has a wheelbase of 1565 mm.
Mini Clubman Cooper S scores majorly for being a practical spacious car and not just a fancy collection vehicle. It comes with a boot space of 360 litres ( 1250 litres with back seats folded ) which is good enough for a hatchback in the premium segment. The car comes with the typical MINI body design but the elongated structure gives Clubman an awkward shape ( as seen from the sides ).
The hatchback comes packed with a powerful 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine which gives out a maximum power of 192 HP and a torque of 280 Nm. The international version of the Clubman S comes with both AWD and FWD variants but only FWD version has been launched in India. The car comes with a strictly premium feel and comes loaded with all cool features.
The car comes with an 8 speed Steptronic gearbox which lends a very high end feel to the car. The car has a top speed of 228 kmph ( 142 miles per hour ) and it zips from 0 to 100 in just about 7.2 seconds. The model is said to be a delight for premium segment buyers in India on performance parameters alone. The company will also launch a Diesel variant of this car by next year.
