Mercedes Benz has planned to roll out atleast one petrol engine in every car in their Indian lineup by September 2016. This would make it the first luxury car maker to have such vast petrol and diesel engine options and may help the brand expand in areas where petrol cars are preferred.
This will not just only save Mercedes from the diesel ban but also let people enjoy the performance of petrol motors at a relatively nice price. Only Mercedes and Jaguar Land Rover had no sub 2.0 L diesel engine and that had resulted in huge loss as these could not be sold in India.
Mercedes will also focus more on the AMG range of cars in the country, recently launching the AMG SLC 43 in the country for INR 77.5 lakh. This makes it good for a tough fight with BMW Z4.
