Manufacturing cost for entry level iPhone 7 is Rs. 15,065

The newly launched Apple iPhone 7 carries premium features like glossy black cover, advanced displays and great storage capacity which has led to increase in cost of manufacturing. According to estimates by component analysis firm, the total manufacturing cost of an entry-level iPhone 7, comes out to be Rs.15,065 which is higher than the costs for 6S Plus.

According to IHS, the estimated cost of manufacturing of an entry level iPhone 6S in 2015 is Rs.13,402 and it claims that the costs for iPhone 7 is higher than last year’s iPhone 6S Plus.
According to Andrew Rassweiler, IHS Senior Research Director, “The iPhone 7 Plus would also distinguish itself from the iPhone 7 due to display size, larger enclosure costs, the dual-cameras, a larger battery, and an increased presence of power management electronics,”.

According to Rassweiler, the main reason for lower margins is Apple’s choice to eliminate a 16 GB option and keep 32 GB as the base model. Along with this iPhone 7 now comes with new accessories and new displays. Rassweiler also added,“No single thing is driving the cost up”, there are multiple factors rather it’s a combination of multiple factors. The iPhone 7’s in-box materials costs $11.80, as per IHS.
