India's first crowdfunded electric bicycle Spero launched at INR 29,900

Milltex Engineers, Coimbatore based firm dealing with renovation kits and machine spares launched Spero on a few months back. The crowdfunding website’s initial campaign helped in raising INR 38 lakh and 100 bookings for the bicycle, which can be driven by paddles as well as the electric battery.

The bicycle can be bought in three different models, E30, E60 and E100. It was developed by Supriya Paul, S Manikandan and Mothilal after researching on the utility of electric mobility options. The number after E depicts the range of these cycles, which are 30 km, 60 km and 100 km respectively.

The battery is located in the center frame of the bicycle while it can be removed for easy charging. The best part comes in the form of cruise control, password protection and pedal assist on the bicycle. The 250W motor is mated to a 48V lithium ion battery on the Spero. The price range is between INR 29,900-50,900.
