KTM recently launched the 2017 RC series while the new Duke will make its entry in the month of February 2017. It is unlikely that KTM will launch the quarter liter machines in India as they are more expensive and use much parts from the 390 series.
KTM is more focused on the cost cutting procedure for a lucrative price tag and 250 Duke and RC250 wont let this be possible due to the addition of dual channel ABS, slipper clutch and Metzeler tyres. The 249 cc, single cylinder engine is good for 31 BHP and 24 Nm of torque.
It uses a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. The addition of this equipment would mean a price hike of around INR 20k on the price of current 200 series. Also, the launch of updated RC200 means that they won’t be running 3 different engines on two bikes in India.
KTM 200 Duke will be the most affordable motorcycle from the manufacturer, leaving the premium components like LED headlights and new instrument console to the 390 Duke itself. The KTM lineup could start at any price tag below INR 1.5 lakh and they will skip ABS from the 200 Duke also.
