Toyota has imported a 2.8L diesel version of 2016 Fortuner for internal R&D and testing purpose in India. The car has no chances of launch in the coming year as Toyota’s current generation of Fortuner is the best selling car of its segment and their is no hurry for a new version in the Indian market.
The new version is powered by more powerful diesel options in the form of 2.4 L and 2.8 L engines from Toyota. The smaller unit produces 148 BHP and 400 NM of torque whereas the currently imported model produces 174.6 BHP and 450 NM of torque. The gearbox is a 6-speed automatic with sequential shift and the car gets a huge 80 liter fuel tank for better single refill stretch.
