During the beginning of 2014, reports said that Mahindra is working on a new sub-200 cc commuter followed by reports about the launch of same in January 2016. Now reports from Thrust Zone, reveal a test mule of the to-be-launched 155 cc commuter spied uncamouflaged. Considering its design, the new motorcycle features a simple design which isn't retro but looks purely utilitarian. For now, there are no revelations on when the commuter will be named. But the new motorcycle will come along with a new chassis and engine which are now being developed in Pune at the company’s R&D centre.
The BS-IV emissions norms have come into effect from 1 April, 2016. So, the new engine will also be compliant with the BS-IV norms. The engine is undergoing its final stages of testing. The new 155 cc commuter will prove to fill the gap between Mahindra Centuro and the Mahindra Mojo.
Although the model seen in the spyshot doesn’t have a disc brake, but the production version is likely going to have a disc brake along with some contemporary features.
