In a recent circular released by Transport Department of Delhi Government, it was revealed that Mahindra & Mahindra had obtained registration approval for XUV500 Intelli-Hybrid.
So it means that Mahindra will be coming up with the Intelli-Hybrid technology soon.Intelli-Hybrid is a mild technology which has already been introduced by Mahindra in the Scorpio model. The technology enables an automatic stop/start that turns off the engine when the vehicle is still for about 3 seconds.
The technology also uses regenerative braking that helps capture the lost energy during braking helping it to charge batteries. According to Mahindra, this Intelli-Hybrid system helps to reduce fuel consumption by 7%. The company will offer this mid-hybrid system on all of it's FWD models.
The technology will also get the company a 5% concession on the VAT meaning that the new Mahindra XUV500 will cost about 1 lakh less then regular variants. But the SUV will come with an extra 1% Environment Protection charge on it's ex-showroom value.
