At the 56th Annual ACMA (Automotive Component Manufacturers Association) Convention,Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, Mahindra and Mahindra has clarified about company's plans of not introducing more SsangYong models in India anytime soon. This also means that the Tivoli SUV wouldn't make it to the Indian market.
The company also said that introduction of SsangYong to India was not the part of the plan of acquisition of SsangYong products. Although, the Tivoli wouldn't make it to the Indian market but company seems to be working on a compact SUV similar to the Tivoli's X100 platform.
As of now there are no official details about the new vehicle but we can expect it to be powered by 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine. On the other hand, Tivoli SUV if launched would compete against the likes of strongly against the Honda BR-V, Hyundai Creta, and Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza. But the low sales of the SsangYong Rexton in India has held the company back from introducing the Tivoli.
