The SsangYong Rexton which is sold by Mahindra as its flagship product has been recalled in India due to faulty driveshaft. All the units of this premium SUV by or before September 2014 have been recalled to rectify the fault in the rear driveshaft.
The reason why Mahindra has recalled this is to inspect the torque loss in the rear driveshaft, if any. The company will do the inspection and replacement / rectification totally free of cost for all the recalled vehicles. But there are no official numbers on the number of vehicles that would be affected due to this. Mahindra will be contacting its customers individually to encourage them to get their vehicles to the service station nearby to their places.
So far there have been no complaints due to this issue and according to Mahindra this is just a proactive recall. In India, SsangYong Rexton is priced in a range between Rs. 21.05 lakh – 24.86 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is powered by the 2.7 L, 5-cylinder diesel engine which can produce 162 BHP & 340 Nm or 184 BHP 402 Nm.
