BMW Motorrad plans to mark India as a global production hub for its small capacity motorcycles, including the BMW G310R. They would even be exporting the same to the home market from India only. Manufacturing the same in Germany would have costed them too much while at the same time, again exporting it would have made it a non feasible product for many markets.
The same will be launched in India in the next month, marking the entry of a premium brand in the very competitive, entry level performance segment. It is made for BMW by TVS Motors in Chennai while even more motorcycles based on the platform would be seen in the coming months.
BMW G310R uses a 313 cc, single cylinder engine producing 33.6 BHP and 28 Nm of torque. It may get a launch price of around INR 2 lakh while it uses safety measures like ABS as standard on the bike.
