WhatsApp recently revealed that a staggering number of 63 billion messages were exchanges via their messenger platform on the occasion of New Year's Eve. It was also revealed in the report that 7.9 billion messages of these were images and 2.4 billion messages were videos.
WhatsApp which is owned by Facebook also revealed that it was the biggest record number of messages exchanged ever in a day's span on their app. 2016 had been a good year for WhatsApp as they had also launched video calling, animated GIF support and much more.
In February 2016 itself, WhatsApp claimed that they had 1 billion active user base. Also out of the total 63 billion messages, 14 billion messages were exchanged in India. WhatsApp has 160 million users in India already who exchanged 3.1 billion images, 700 million GIFs and 610 million videos.
